Kimon Valavanis
SMC eNewsletter Editor

Dear Colleagues,

As I am writing this column, the Spring semester is over, hot and humid weather has arrived in Florida - I suspect the cold weather is on its way in the southern hemisphere, too. All of us are making summer plans, perhaps combining business and pleasure. Now is the time to catch up; finish a paper; think of a new project; submit a proposal; plan for next year, and also steal sometime to relax and enjoy. Some may consider a vacation, although it looks like the word 'vacation' has become more of a dictionary term these days.

Well, since everybody is making plans one way or another, why not plan to submit your contribution to the eNewsletter? I state that because it is very important to support the Society's publications.

In this issue, we have two new items: a position paper on Evolving Intelligent Systems, by P. Angelov and N. Kasabov, and a report on the University of South Florida Clean Energy Research Center, by Elias Stefanakos.

I also want to introduce to you one of my graduate students, a PhD candidate, who is responsible for setting the layout of each issue, collect and include all submitted information items in the issue: his name is Kostanstantinos Dalamagkidis, . Please send him your input in advance, respecting the deadlines.

I wish you a prosperous summer. Enjoy the issue.
