Decision Support Systems Laboratory (ERGASYA)

Department of Production Engineering and Management
Technical University of Crete, Chania, Greece

The Decision Support Systems Laboratory (ERGASYA) was founded in 1987 at the Department of Production Engineering and Management of Technical University of Crete, Chania, Greece. ERGASYA is a place of intensive research, mainly dealing with the development and/or improving of decision-making methods and techniques as well as real world studies on intelligent systems development and decision support.

The staff of ERGASYA includes 4 professors, lecturers, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, totally 25 persons, and has profound knowledge and broad experience in: operational research, combinatorial optimization, game theory, multicriteria decision analysis, group decision making, decision support systems, multi-agent systems, parallel programming, e-commerce, logistics, machine learning, neural networks, data mining, genetic algorithms, behavior analysis, customer satisfaction, user modeling and further scientific areas. The academic staff has published 15 books and more than 230 research papers which have been published in refereed journals and books.

Laboratory's objectives can be summarized as follows:

  • To provide teaching services to students of graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • To supervise PhD and MSc candidates from Technical University of Crete as well as external institutions.
  • To organize educational and scientific seminars, workshops and conferences and participate in the editorial advisory board of scientific journals.
  • To function as a research and development centre, capable of attracting research projects in collaboration with other universities, institutes, organizations and enterprises from domestic or international area.
