It is a great honor for me to organize June 2009 issue of the SMCS eNewsletter. I would like to thank the support from Editor Prof. Hong Yan and contributions from Prof. Jerry Mendel and Prof. Hani Hagras.

This issue of the eNewsletter presents the recent development of Type-2 fuzzy logic system. Three feature articles are selected from different regions: America, Europe and Asia, and with different focuses: education, fundamentals and applications.

• The article from Jerry Mendel gives a brief review of the published work in the field. He classifies the major works published into different categories and provides his comments for easy reading. This informative article serves the educational need to help readers to know and use the type-2 fuzzy system.
• The other article is from Hani Hagras and Christian Wagner from Europe. It provides a good introduction of interval type-2 fuzzy system. It starts from the uncertainties modelling with different type-2 fuzzy sets, goes into development of interval type-2 fuzzy system, and finally real-world applications. It shows a technical picture of development and applications of the system.
• The last article is to present two special applications of type-2 fuzzy system for multi- dimensional processes. One is Probabilistic Fuzzy Logic System for stochastic process modelling. It integrates probabilistic distribution function with fuzzy membership function. The other is Spatio-temporal Fuzzy Logic System to control temperature distribution where the space dimension is considered.
